NCFI's Sealite Open Cell.

Open cell spray foam is applied using water as a blowing agent and expands 100 times the original volume. As the foam expands rapidly, the cells break apart and fill with air. This creates a low-density flexible insulation that fills in even the smallest gaps and tightest spaces.

Because open cell spray foam is a low-density high-yield insulation product, it is more cost- effective than closed cell spray foam. Typical application includes stud walls, attics, etc.

NCFI's Insulstar Closed Cell.

Closed cell spray foam is applied using high R-value blowing agents and expands 30-50 times the original volume. The cells remain closed and tightly packed, creating strong, rigid foam insulation. Closed cell spray foam resists water vapor and air infiltration.

Closed cell spray foam can be applied anywhere traditional insulation is used. Closed cell spray foam is especially recommended for areas that could be exposed to moisture, such as a basement or outbuilding.

Closed or Open Cell Spray Foam?

Spray polyurethane foam insulation (SPF) is a type of insulation that provides the highest R-value per inch compared to other commonly available insulation products. Advanced Spray Foam and Coatings uses only the best spray foam. The R-value of our closed cell insulation, NCFI's Insulstar, is 6.8 per inch. The R-value of our open cell insulation, NCFI's Sealite, is 4.1 per inch.

Because it is applied as a liquid and expands, spray foam fills the small gaps and tight crevices that other insulation products, such as fiberglass batting, cannot fill.

Benefits of Spray Foam Insulation

  • Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) will improve energy efficiency to save money on utility bills.
  • The tight seal created by spray foam limits air infiltration, which will decrease utility costs.
  • SPF is inert: it will never shrink, sag, or settle like traditional insulation.
  •  SPF improves air quality in your home by blocking outside allergens and pollution.
  • Insulating with SPF allows you to "harvest" unused space such as the attic and convert it into usable space.
  • Using spray foam insulation in a new construction can reduce the capacity requirements of the HVAC system needed, decreasing initial heating & cooling costs.
  • Houses (especially new houses)  with spray foam insulation will have a higher resale value.
